Daft Punk Eyes European Festival Tour in 2013

It looks like Daft Punk fans in Europe will have a good summer next year.

EDMSnob reports that, “Reliable sources have indicated that Daft Punk will embark upon a European Summer Festival Tour in 2013.” Festivals expected to be included in the tour include Denmark’s Roskilde Festival, Spain’s Primavera Sound, Sweden’s Peace and Love Festival, Norway’s Oyafestivalen and the Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts in the U.K.

The website posted a screenshot of a Facebook conversation between a prominent EDM graphic designer known as Aeriform and Icelandic celebrity photographer Oliver James L’eroe. In the conversation, L’eroe says he may be photographing the band at the above festivals, and said that “the news came STRICLY (sic) from the organizers.”

Of course, these are only rumors at this point, but that doesn’t mean Daft Punk fans aren’t already getting excited about the possibility of an upcoming tour. There is quite a bit of other news surround the band right now, including that the group has apparently worked on a new album with Nile Rodgers (which might lend some credibility to the tour rumors).

Speaking to MixMag earlier this month, Rodgers said that he has worked with the band and compared them to David Bowie.

“Spiritually and artistically working with them was as good as anything I’ve ever done,” the legendary musician and producer said. “It’s as great as being in a studio with Bowie, it’s great as being with Bernard Edwards, and it’s as great as the best stuff I’ve ever done with Duran or Madonna.”

Though he wouldn’t comment on any release information about the album, he did say that will people will not get what they are expecting from the band.

“It’s going to be so cutting edge that people aren’t going to expect what they’re doing,” he added.
