yes Biography
The English rock band Yes was established by Jon Anderson (singer) and Chris Squire (bassist) in 1968. Also included in the original lineup were Bill Bruford (drums), Tony Kaye (keyboards) and Peter Banks (guitar). The band's symphonic and progressive style of rock music helped the band to achieve worldwide success. Yes is best known for their live stage sets, mystical lyrics and lengthy songs. There have been seventeen different musicians as part of Yes's lineup. Current members include keyboardist Geoff Downes, drummer Alan White, guitarist Steve Howe, bassist Chris Squire and singer Jon Davison.
Yes first started to achieve success in 1971 with the release of two albums: "The Yes Album" and "Fragile." Their success grew with the release of their 1972 set "Close to the Edge" and 1973's "Tales from Topographic Oceans." These successful albums were followed by 1974's "Relayer," 1977's "Going for the One" and 1978 "Tomato."
Their 1983 album "90125" spawned their No. 1 hit "Owner of a Lonely Heart," which to date is the band's best-selling album. They followed this up in 1987 with "Big Generator." The band continued to perform and record albums in the 1990's, inncluding 1991's "Union," 1994's "Talk," 1996's "Keys to Ascension," 1997's "Keys to Ascension 2 and "Open Your Eyes" and 1999's "The Ladder."
In 2002 Yes embarked on their 35th year anniversary tour. The band has released 19 studio albums, 32 compilation albums, 10 live albums and 33 singles. Their latest studio album is "Fly from Here," released in 2011. Yes continues to perform over 40 years since the band was formed.
