the killers Biography

The American rock band The Killers was formed in 2001 in Las Vegas, Nevada by Dave Keuning (backing vocals, guitar) and Brandon Flowers (keyboards, lead vocals). In 2002, Ronnie Vannucci Jr. (percussion, drums) and Mark Stoermer (backing vocals, bass) completed the band's current lineup.

The Killers released “Hot Fuss,” their debut alum, in 2004 and achieved mainstream success. In 2006, they released their second set “Sam's Town” and in 2007 “Sawdust,” a compilation album containing unreleased material, rarities and B-sides. In 2008, the band released “Day & Age,” their third album, and in 2009 “Live From The Royal Albert Hall,” The Killer's first live album. The band to date has sold more than six million U.S. albums, more than five million UK albums and more than 18 million worldwide albums.

The Killers initially performed in small Las Vegas clubs. The band signed with Lizard King Records, a UK indie label, in 2003. The Killers went to London and started to perform in clubs and bars to very positive reviews from critics and fans alike. In early 2004 the band was signed by Island Def Jam. “Hot Fuss” was released by Lizard King Records in the UK and by Island Records in the U.S. In January 2005 the set reached the No. 1 spot in the UK. “Mr. Brightside” was the first top ten hit for the band in the US and UK. “Sam's Town,” released in 2006, debuted in the No.2 spot on Billboard's album chart and spawned four singles: “For Reasons Unknown,” “Read My Mind,” “Bones” and “When You Were Young.” The Killers released “Day & Age,” their third album, in November 2008. The set spawned the platinum hit single “Human.”
