Selena Gomez, the American actress and singer, was born on July 22, 1992 in Grand Prairie, Texas. Gomez is best known for playing Alex Russo on Wizards of Waverly Place, the Emmy Award winning television series on the Disney Channel. She has also appeared in feature films as well as the television movies Princess Protection, Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie and Another Cinderella Story. Ramona and Beezus was Gomez starring film debut.

Selena Gomez is also founder and lead singer of Selena Gomez & the Scene, a pop band. They have released two albums, Kiss & Tell as well as A Year Without Rain. Both sets have been certified gold by the RIAA. Gomez also made contributions on the soundtracks for Wizards of Waverly Place, Another Cinderella Story and Tinker Bell.

Gomez made her acting debut when she was 7 years. She appeared on Barney & Friends in the role of Gianna. She also had minor roles with Walker, Texas Ranger: Trial By Fire, a television film, and Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over. Disney Channel discovered Gomez in 2004 as part of their nationwide scouting. She made guest appearances on The Suite Life of Zack & Code and Hannah Montana. She later had a recurring role in the second and third seasons of Hannah Montana. In 2007, Selena Gomez became part of the cast forWizards of Waverly Place where she played Alex Russo, one of the show's main characters.
