rascal flatts Biography

The American country band Rascal Flatts was formed in Columbus, Ohio. The band is comprised of lead vocalist Gary LeVox, Joe Don Rooney (vocals, lead guitar) and Jay DeMarcus (vocals, piano, keyboard, bass guitar). DeMarcus and LeVox are second cousins.

From 2000 to 2010, Rascal Flatts was with Lyric Street Records, Disney Music Group's label. The group released seven albums with Lyric Street. All were certified by RIAA as platinum or higher. In 2000 they released “Rascal Flatts,” in 2002 “Melt,” in 2004 “Feels Like Today,” in 2006 “Me and My Gang,” in 2007 “Still Feels Good,” in 2008 “Greatest Hits Volume 1” and in 2009 “Unstoppable.” In 2010 Lyric Street closed. Rascal Flatts then moved over to Big Machine Records, an independent label. In November 2010, they released “Nothing Like This.”

The studio albums of Rascal Flatts have spawned twenty six single releases. They have all charted in the top 20 at least on Billboard's chart Hot Country Songs. All except one have made it into the top ten, with eleven making it to number one. “Bless the Broken Road,” a Marcus Hummon cover, is the longest lasting No. 1 for the band. In early 2005 it was at number one for five weeks. “What Hurts the Most” in late 2005 and early 2006 was at number one on the adult contemporary and country charts. It peaked in the number six spot on Billboard's Hot 100 chart.
