mumford and sons Biography
The British folk rock band Mumford & Sons is comprised of Marcus Mumford (mandolin, drums, guitar, vocals), Ted Dwayne (guitar, drums, string bass, vocals), “Country” Winston Marshall (dobro, banjo, vocals) and Ben Lovett (drums, accordion, keyboards, vocals). The band was formed in October 2007 in London, England, rising out of West End's folk scene that includes other artists like Noah and the Whale, Johnny Flynn and Laura Marling.
“Love Your Ground,” an EP, was recorded by Mumford & Sons. They toured the UK extensively to bring exposure to their music and build support before recording a full album. In October 2009 Mumford & Sons released “Sigh No More,” their debut album, in the U.K. The album was released in the U.S. in February 2010. The set peaked at No. 2 on UK Album Chart as well as Billboard's 200 chart in the U.S.
Throughout 2010, the band continued to gain popularity. They performed in front of larger audiences and make their first appearances on U.S. network television. The band was nominated for two Grammy Awards in December 2010, as Best New Artist as well as Best Rock Song for their single “Little Lion Man.” Mumford & Sons won Best British Album from the 2011 Brit Awards and were named Most Popular International Artist at the 2010 ARIA Music Awards.
