marilyn manson Biography

The American musician and actor Marilyn Manson was born as Brian Hugh Warner in Canton, Ohio on January 5, 1969. He is the lead singer and controversial stage persona for the band Marilyn Manson. He formed his stage name from combining the names of Charles Manson and Marilyn Monroe, two American cultural icons from the 1960s. His popularity derives from the controversy over his lyrics and his outrageous style.

In 1989 Manson and guitarist Scott Putesky formed Marilyn Manson & Spooky Kids. In 1992 they shortened the name to Marilyn Manson. Manson was also involved in the side projects Mrs. Scabtree and the faux-Christian metal band Satan on Fire, where he played drums and bass guitar. Producer Trent Reznor discovered the Marilyn Manson band in 1993. He produced the band's debut album in 1994 and released "Portrait of an American Family" on Nothing Records label. Marily Manson started to gain a cult following. In 1995 they released the EP "Smells Like Children" and then in 1996 the group released "Antichrist Superstar," their second studio album. The band has had three platinum certified and three gold. The latest album from the band Marilyn Manson, "Born Villian," was released in May 2012.

Marilyn Manson has also produced most of Jack Off Jill's early recordings and has made guest appearances on albums by Godhead and DMX. He has also worked as an actor. In 1997 Manson had his film debut when he appeared in the David Lynch film "Lost Highway." He has also had an array of cameo appearances and minor roles, including "Party Monster," "Jawbreaker" and "Rise." Michaeal Moore interviewed Manson in "Bowling for Columbine," his political documentary, to discuss the allegations that Marily Manson's music was possibly a motivating factor in the Columbine massacre.
