Keith Urban, the Australian country music song writer, singer and guitarist, was born on October 26, 1967 in Whangarei, New Zealand. Most of Urban's commercial success has come in Australia and the United States. Urban got his start in Brisbane, Australia. He released his debut self-titled album in 1991 and had four charted singles in Australia. In 1992 he moved to the U.S. He worked as a session guitarist and then started a band called The Ranch. The band record a studio album with Capitol Records and had two singles chart on Billboard's country charts.

In 1999, Urban made his solo debut in America with his album “Keith Urban” with Capitol Records. In the U.S. the set was certified platinum and produced his first number one hit in the U.S. with “But for the Grace of God.” Urban's breakthrough hit was “Somebody Like You,” off of his second set from 2002 called “Golden Road.” Urban won his first Grammy from that album with the fourth single “You'll Think of Me” and his third Number One song on Billboard. In 2004, he released “Be Here,” which spawned three Number One hit singles. The album earned a certification of 4x Multi-Platinum . In 2006, Urban released “Love, Pain & the Whole Crazy Thing,” which produced “Once in a Lifetime” and “Stupid Boy” which earned Urban his second Grammy. In late 2007 “Greatest Hits: 18 Kids” was released. A year later the Greatest Hits package was released with “You Look Good in My Shirt” added. The album “Defying Gravity” was released in March 2009 and “Get Closer” in November 2010.

Urban has released nine studio albums in total along with one with The Ranch. He has over fifteen charted singles on U.S. country charts, which include ten Number Ones. Keith Urban plays the electric and acoustic guitar in addition to drums, bouzouki, sitar, piano, mandolin, bass guitar and ganjo.
