eric church Biography
The American country songwriter-singer Eric Church was born on May 3, 1977 in Granite Falls, North Carolina. In 2006 Church signed a recording contract with Capitol Records. "Sinners Like Me," his debut album, was also released in 2006. Four singles charted on Billboard's country chart, including "Guys Like Me," Two Pink Lines" and "How 'Bout You," which all made the Top 20. "Carolina," Church's second album was released in 2009. The set spawned the top 10 hit singles "Hell on the Heart" and "Love Your Love the Most" as well as "Smoke a Little Smoke." In 2011 Church released his third album, "Chief," which charted in the No. 1 spot on Billboard's country chart. It spawned the singles "Springsteen," "Drink in My Hand" and "Homeboy." "Drink in My Hand" and "Springsteen" were both No. 1 singles.
Church started to write songs and play guitar when he was 13 years old. While still in high school, he started performing at bars in the Granite Falls, North Carolina area. He performed Jimmy Buffett covers as well as some of his own songs. Church received a marketing degree from Appalachian State University before relocating to Nashville.
"How 'Bout You," Church's first single, peaked in the No. 14 spot on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart and was the lead single for "Sinners Like Me." Church made his first Grand Ole Opry performance in April 2006. The two other singles off his debut album, "Guys Like Me" and "Two Pink Lines," also made the Top 20. After releasing his debut album Church toured with Rascal Flatts and Brad Paisley.
In 2009 Church released "Carolina," his second album. The singles "Love Your Love the Most" and "Hell on the Heart" were both top 10 singles. In June 2010 Church moved to EMI Records Nashville, the new imprint for Capitol Nashville. He released "Caldwell County," an EP, in January 2011. Church released "Chief," his third album, in July 2011. It debuted in the No. 1 spot on Billboard's 200 chart and Top Country Albums, selling 145,000 copies during the first week of its release. "Chief" was nominated for the Best Country Album Grammy Award.
