Sufjan Stevens

Sufjan Stevens Takes Break from Recording to Tour

Sufjan Stevens can never be criticized for being a lazy man. He currently has two music releases barreling down the track and he?s heading out onto the open road this fall to perform a flurry of dates over September and October. First up is the ATP in Monticello, New York on September 12. The mini-tour will stretch over the coarse of a month, dotting its way through the northeastern US and Canada before coming full circle to Brooklyn for duel shows at the Music Hall of Williamsburg on October 6 & 7.

His first upcoming release is entitled “The BQE.” It was an orchestra project commissioned by the Brooklyn Academy of Arts to be a “symphonic and cinematic exploration of New York City’s infamous Brooklyn-Queens Expressway” according to the press release from Steven’s label. The CD/DVD combo finds its way into stores on October 20. Sufjan is also working on a re-envisioning of his 2001 album “Enjoy Your Rabbit.” The new effort will also bob from the water in October.

Hopefully soon we’ll get a new installment from Steven’s 50 state project to follow up gems like “Illinoise” and “Greeting from Michigan: The Great Lakes State.” Delware or Rhode Island perhaps?
