Music Acts Confirmed for South by Southwest Festival

Spoon, Broken Social Scene, She & Him and the xx will be among the bands playing in Austin for this year’s South by Southwest Music Festival. A complete list of bands slated to perform at the festival are listed below.

Music isn’t the only thing the festival has to offer. In the film bucket, we have the directoral debut of James Franco in a documentary called “Saturday Night.” Also being featured are Tim Blake Nelson’s film “Leaves of Grass” staring Edward Norton and Jean-Pierre Jeunet’s (Amelie) latest project “Micmacs.”

Spoon Firms Album Release Date, Tour Plans

For all those Spoon fans anxiously holding your breathe in anticipation of their forthcoming album Transference, you can exhale a little bit. Transference’s release date has been pushed up from January 25 to January 19. The record will be released on Merge here in the states and Anti- for our UK brethren. The album will be comprised of 11-tracks including their single “Got Nuffin’” which was released as a part of an EP back in June.

Spoon, comprised of Britt Daniel, Jim Eno, Eric Harvey and Rob Pope, will also be hitting the road next month in anticipation of the Transference release parking at 5 cities in the US. The Austin, TX band kick things off in Kansas City on December 3 and run through New Year’s Eve at Riverside Theatre in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. A handful of initial European dates have been set for Europe at this point. A full listing of Spoon tour dates is highlighted below.

Spoon’s last releasein 2007 “Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga” climbed up to number 1 on the Billboard Independent Album charts.
