Raconteurs, Sheryl Crow Headline MI Festival in Michigan

On Wednesday, organizers announced that The Raconteurs and Sheryl Crow will be headlining a music festival this September. It will take place at a Michigan race track.

According to TGIF Entertainment Group, other artists scheduled to perform on the two stages at MI Fest include ex-Grand Funk Railroad member Mark Farner, The Howling Diablos, The Romantics and Mitch Ryder.

MI Fest will be held in Brooklyn, MI at the Michigan International Speedway on September 17. Organizers are planning to make it an annual event. It will also be featuring some of Michigan’s best art, industry and food.

Other events hosted by the speedway throughout the year in addition to auto races, include the Great Lakes Wine and Beer Festival.

Crow is quite familiar with Michigan. Over the years, she has collaborated with Kid Rock, a resident of the Detroit area. Also, four Raconteurs members, including Brendan Benson and Jack White, have Motor City ties.

George Gikas, TGIF Entertainment Group president said, we are thrilled to bring this unique camping and music event to Michigan. TGIF Entertainment Group is based in Farmington Hills and is the festival’s organizer on behalf of MI Fest LLC, which was recently formed. This is our inaugural event to a festival that we believe will evolve into a weekend that is essential for Michigan music lovers as well as those outside of the Michigan area.

Several Michigan companies and restaurants will be providing food, including Jacques’ Tacos and American Coney Island. Badass Beer by Kid Rock will be sold as well.

Artists will also be displaying their art at MI Fest Art Gallery.

Until Friday, “early bird” MI Fest tickets can be purchased for $59. On Saturday, general sale ticket sales will begin with tickets costing $79. There will be free admission for children 12 years old or younger if a ticketed adult accompanies them.

Festival gates will be opening at noon. The first show will begin at 1 pm and the event will wrap up at 11 pm.

Sheryl Crow Shows Off Her Underwear, Shania Takes a Spill at the CMTs

Sheryl Crow Shows Off Her Underwear, Shania Takes a Spill at the CMTs

On Wednesday, Shania Twain fell at CMT Music Awards. Earlier in the night, Sheryl Crow had her own moment of embarrassment during her performance with Kid Rock, when she revealed more than she had planned.

Both women made nice recoveries from their respective snafus.

The short white skirt Crow was wearing while sitting on a stool performing “Collide” gave minimal coverage. When she moved into the dancing segment of the duet, it was the singer’s underwear stealing the spotlight.

Later during the show, while she and Sara Evans were presenting an award Crow said, people are tweeting all over America that when I was singing with Kid Rock my skirt was really short and when I got up my underwear showed.

Evans said, well you had underwear on at least.

That’s because I am clean, good family entertainment, Crow replied.

However, it wasn’t just Crow that had problems. Twain lost her feet as she walked out to hand out the best male performance award.

However, the singer of “I Feel Like a Woman” took her fall in stride. Twain, who landed a solo residency in Las Vegas at Caesar’s Palace recently, assured her fans in a video on her website that it didn’t hurt me to make an utter fool of myself.

I don’t need any double to do my stunts. I do them myself, Twain said.

Touche, ladies.

Kid Rock Teams with Sheryl Crow for New Leg of ‘Born Free’ Tour

Kid Rock Teams with Sheryl Crow for New Leg of ‘Born Free’ Tour

Sheryl Crow and Kid Rock, who performed together on the 2002 song “Picture” and the 2010 “Collide from Kid Rock’s “Born Free” album, will be hitting the road together on a tour this summer. There might even be a collaborative album coming out shortly after the tour ends. The two singers will perform 27 concerts together beginning in Cincinnati on July 2 and ending in Houston on September 3.

In an interview with Billboard.com, Rock stated, “We’ve been talking about doing something like this for a long time. You talk about things, and you never know if it’s going to come to light, but we’ve always wanted to tour together.”

About the collaboration, Crow said, “Any day, any hour of the day or night, if [Rock] calls me I’m totally there. I’m such a huge fan of his, and I love the guy. He’s a great songwriter, and I feel like our collaboration together is always easy and it just…works.”

Rock has indicated that he and Crow will sing together many times throughout the tour, including on, but not limited to “Picture” and “Collide.” Bob Seger played the piano on the recordings of these two songs. In addition, the duo sang Free’s song “All Right Now” in January at Rock’s 40th birthday celebration at Ford Field in Detroit. Rock also said that they “have been wanting to do a live record together, forever. If we do our hits – ‘Picture’ and, if the clouds align and it becomes [a hit], ‘Collide” – and we do some fun covers we’ve been doing throughout the years and throw them on an album, that’ll be fun for people to hear.” “Collide’s” video has hit the Top 20 video list for both CMT and VH1.

There will be two concerts on Rock’s tour, which features his Twisted Brown Trucker band, that Crow will not participate in. These are on July 15 at Cadott’s Chippewa Valley Music Festival and July 27 at Paso Robles’ California Mid-State Fair. Rock is intending to do “something special” for fans in Detroit, his home town. He has not yet released what that will consist of.

The tour, titled Chillin’ The Most Cruise, is set to begin on April 7 in New Orleans. He has a performance scheduled in Thackerville, OK, and at the Jazz & Heritage Festival in New Orleans. He will head up north to Canada on May 21. Crow will begin her tour in the United States in Rochester, MN on May 8 and will perform at various venues through June 30.

Jeff Tweedy, Sheryl Crow Perform for Rally to Restore Sanity

Just what will take place on Saturday at Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart’s Rally for Restoring Sanity or Fear is a big secret.  However the just approved permit for the rally details the schedule.  Although there are still quite a few TBDs, according to a report in the Christian Science Monitor the Roots will be kicking the rally off at noon and perform a set of 40 minutes.  A welcome from Colbert and Stewart and readings from Sam Waterson (Law and Order actor) will be followed with a 10 minute performance from Jeff Tweedy, Wilco frontman, and Mavis Staples, presumable something from “You Are Not Alone,” their joint album.  Sheryl Crow, at approximately 2:15, will be in the spotlight for around five minutes.

On the schedule there are more TBDs than actual names, so there should be lots of surprises.  Starting at noon the rally will stream live from the website and Comedy Central.

Sheryl Crow Opens Breast Cancer Detection Facility in LA

On Tuesday Sheryl Crow, breast cancer survivor and Grammy award winner, opened a facility in Los Angeles for breast cancer detection.  It was in the very same cancer center that Crow received cancer treatments four years ago.

Sheryl Crow Imaging Center is offering digital screening to assist with diagnosing the more common forms of cancer that U.S. women are found to have.

In 2006 the 48 year old singer was found to have breast cancer following her routine screening mammogram.  Following radiation therapy and surgery Crow is cancer free now.  The cancer center Pink Lotus Breast Center is where Crow’s radiation therapy took place and will be housing the donated imaging center.

Crow said, to be able to join with Pink Lotus Breast Center is providing a wonderful platform for us to help create awareness about cancer and encourage American women by the millions who are over the age of forty to have annual mammograms done.  Crow is also a mother and has two adopted children.

Sheryl Crow Coming to Broadway in Penning 'Diner' Score?

TVNZ is reporting that Cheryl Crow might be working on the Broadway score for the stage adaption of Diner, the film.  Recently the singer did a strip-tease musical number for the stage show in New York.  Without revealing too many details Crow said, a friend asked if I would write music for Broadway’s musical version of Diner.  There is a scene with three women doing a striptease.  I did some music for it.  It is really good.  I could even strip to that, and I am 48 years old.

No doubt Crow will eventually be represented on Broadway.  She has been preceded by other contemporary performers such as Bono, David Bryan from Bon Jovi and Elton John in the forthcoming musical Spider-Man.

Crow’s many accomplishments include performing with Sting, Michelle Branch, Kid Rock, John Mellencamp, Luciano Pavarotti, Eric Clapton, Michael Jackson, Mick Jagger and the Rolling Stones.  She has also done backing vocals for Don Henley and Tina Turner.  She has released one live album, two compilations and seven studio albums and also contributed many songs for film soundtracks.  Crow has sold, in the United States, 16 million albums and worldwide 35 million albums.  In July 2010 “100 Miles from Memphis,” her latest album, was released.  Over the course of her career, Crow has received nine Grammy Awards.  She has also recently appeared on “Cougar Town” on ABC and “30 Rock” on NBC.

Want to Own Sheryl Crow's Nashville Pad?

Sheryl Crow‘s Nashville area home is for sale. Actually, home isn’t quite the word that describes Crow’s house. On the outside, it looks like a British country estate from one of those high tone movies. The inside is definitely country funky, with a comfortable lived in feel and gigantic.

It’s a dream house, all in all, for children. The sale won’t be easy for Wyatt, Crow’s son. However, she does have multiple residences. It’s not like the pair will be homeless or anything. The gym inside the garage makes me weep with jealousy.

Set on a plot of 154 acres ,the 10,000 square foot plus house has a listed selling price of $7.5 million.

Sheryl Crow, Keith Urban Raise Money for Nashville Flood Relief

Country music singers Sheryl Crow, Lady Antebellum and Keith Urban, among others, joined together to help raise flood relief money for Tennessee.

The stars answered phones and performed during a telethon, raising $1.5 million.

Earlier this month, at least 2,000 Nashville homes were damaged or destroyed from floods hitting Tennessee.

Keith Urban performed an acoustical version of “Help,” the Beatles’ hit song, with wife Nicole Kidman watching from the sidelines.

Urban said, we weren’t spared completely. Our Franklin place had a fair amount of damage. Urban added that lots of musical equipment of his had floated down river.

Describing herself as a Nashville newcomer, Sheryl Crow moved to the area five years ago. She said, there are lots of different places I’ve lived in. However, until I moved here I never really felt completely at home.

Hillary Scott, native of Nashville said, I know we can get the city back to where it once was. I know it.

Will Hoge closed the show, performing “Washed By The Water.”

Earlier this month, Taylor Swift made a $500,000 donation to the cause.
