Rob Zombie, Creed, Chickenfoot Headline 2012 Rocklahoma

Rocklahoma, the Oklahoma festival taking place this Memorial Day Weekend, has announced a lineup featuring headliners Rob Zombie, Creed and Chickenfoot.

The festival will take place May 25-27 in Pryor, Okla., which is near Tulsa. The recently announced lineup features a slew of rock acts including Megadeth, P.O.D., Chevelle, The Darkness, Theory of a Deadman, Puddle of Mudd, Falling in Reverse and former Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash.

This year marks the sixth annual presentation of the festival that began by featuring lineups made up of purely ‘80s hair metal bands. Two years ago, the lineup expanded to include a mix of new rock, classic rock and metal.

Though the festival is only three days long, the grounds where it will be held will be open for camping from May 20 to May 29. Campers must purchase camping tickets in addition to their concert tickets. Campers are allowed access to a 60-unit shower facility, restrooms and a 24-hour convenience store. All campgrounds feature 24-hour security.

On May 24 a pre-party will be held for those already camping. Bands performing at the pre-party event include Jamco Industries, Delay the Day, Aformatic, TwoFold, Baron Von Swager, Back From Ashes, Tiranico and Fist of Rage.

The main event will feature four stages, and the main stage will feature emcee Eddie Trunk of VH1 Classic’s “That Metal Show.” In all, more than 70 bands will perform at the festival.

Chickenfoot will be performing in support of their most recent album, Chickenfoot III, which was released last September. Despite the misleading title, the album is actually the supergroup’s second record. Chickenfoot is made up of former Van Halen members Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony, along with guitarist Joe Satriani and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith.

Headliner Creed has been rumored to be working on a new album, though no official announcements have been made.

Creed Dust Off Original Albums for Spring Tour

Marking the 15th anniversary of the platinum selling debut album My Own Prison, Creed will hit the road this year to perform that album and its follow-up, Human Clay, in its entirety. While only one album will be performed per night during the tour, some lucky markets will get a two-night stand by the band that will play My Own Prison one night and Human Clay the next. The band also will play selected songs from its other two albums, Weathered and Full Circle each night in addition to the full albums.

The tour will kick off April 13 at the Chicago Theatre for a two-night stand in the Windy City. Other cities getting the double night (and double album) treatment will be Philadelphia (April 16-17), New York (April 19-20), Houston (April 30 – May 1) and Kansas City, Mo. (May 21-22). The Kansas City dates are the final dates that have been announced thus far. All cities only getting one night from the band will hear Human Clay in its entirety. These cities are Uncasville, Conn.; Washington, D.C.; Boston; Phoenix; Las Vegas; Los Angeles and Denver. Human Clay proved to be a massive success for the band, and sold more than 11 million albums on the strength of singles like “Higher,” “With Arms Wide Open” and “What If.” My Own Prison sold over six million copies, and included the singles “What’s This Life For,” “One” and the title track.

After the success of those albums and Weathered, Creed broke up in 2004, with frontman Scott Stapp pursing a solo career while the rest of the band formed the band Alter Bridge. The band got back together in 2009 and released a fourth album, Full Circle, that same year. Although that album premiered at number two on the Billboard 200 albums chart, it has failed to match the success of the band’s early albums.

Creed Returns to the Road in 2010 with Value Priced Tour

Fresh off their reunion tour last year, Creed is hitting the road again this summer with a special twist. The outing, dubbed The 20-10 Tour,” will sell the first 2010 tickets for $20 with no service fees tacked on, while the remaining seats will be priced at $20 and $10 a piece and include service fees. VIP seating with additional perks will also be available. Tickets go onsale via Ticketmaster on April 24.

The 20-10 Tour will take off in Bristow, Virginia on July 28 and continue through September 4 at the Woodlands, Texas. A full listing of Creed tour dates are listed below. The band will be making the rounds in Australia, South America and Europe before landing in the States. Creed released their first album in eight years last fall entitled “Full Circle.” In recent interviews, frontman Scott Stapp signaled that Creed has gone through a rebirth and the band are looking forward to many new albums to come.
