Bryan Adams, the Canadian rock songwriter-singer, bassist, guitarist and producer, was born on November 5, 1959 in Kingston, Ontario. He released his self-titled debut album in 1980. In 1981 You Want It You Got It, Adams' second album, was released and spawned the hit single Lonely Nights. Adams' breakout album was his third set Cuts Like a Knife, released in 1983. The set spawned the hit singles Straight from the Heart, Cuts Like a Knife and This Time. Adams has released a total of 10 studio albums, five live albums and five compilation albums over the couThe North American rock band Buffalo Springfield was one of the first American rock bands like Lovin' Spoonful and The Byrds to become popular following the invasion of British rock bands. The careers of Jim Messina, Richie Furay, Stephen Stills and Neil Young were launched from their Ed Sullivan Show appearances. Buffalo Springfield is known best for their single For What It's Worth. Stephen Stills wrote the political anthem as a response to an assault by the Los Angeles Police Department on young hipsters.
Buffalo Springfield was formed in Los Angeles, CA in 1966. Several disruptions, including music industry pressures and infighting resulted in frequent changes to the band's lineup and after approximately 25 months the group disbanded.
Three albums were released by Buffalo Springfield: Buffalo Springfield in 1966, Buffalo Springfield Again in 1997 and Last Time Around in 1968. The band also left behind many live recordings, studio outtakes and demo recordings as well as their reputation as a band with high dysfunction and excellent personnel. Despite their limited output and short tenure, Buffalo Springfield was one of the 1960's most influential bands which resulted in several subsequent bands, solo careers and recognition from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame separately for Buffalo Springfield, Neil Young and Crosby, Stills and Nash. Adams has won numerous nominations and awards, including from the Juno Awards, Grammy Awards, American Music Awards, ASCAP and MTV. He won two song composition Ivor Novello Awards and also been nominated for Academy Awards and Golden Globe Awards for his film songwriting. Adams has been awarded with Order of British Columbia and Order of Canada for his popular music contribution as well as philanthropic work through his foundation that helps with improving education around the world.
In March 2011, Adams received the 2,435th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and in 1998 became part of the Canadian Walk of Fame. At the Juno Awards in April 2006, Adams became a member of Canada's Music Hall of Fame. He was recognized with an Allan Waters Humanitarian Award in July 2010 for his numerous charitable campaigns and concerts throughout his career. He also received the Governor General Performing Arts Award in May 2010 for 30 years of contributing to the arts.
