big time rush Biography

Big Time Rush is a Los Angeles-based pop boy band who gained popularity through their hit eponymous Nickelodeon show. The band is composed of Kendall Schmidt, James Maslow, Carlos Pena, Jr., and Logan Henderson who all hold vocal and play various instruments duties within the band. They started in 2009 after signing a record deal with Columbia Records and Nickelodeon, which also included a TV show deal, the live-action series 'Big Time Rush' (BTR), which premiered in Nickelodeon in November 2009 to huge ratings. The series is current airing its second season.

In the same year, they released their debut single also entitled 'Big Time Rush' to promote the show. The single also appears in the band's debut album, 'BTR'. The album hit the shelves in October 2011 and charted at no.3 on the Billboard 200, making it their most successful release to date. It spawned five other singles, 'Halfway There', 'City is Ours', 'Til I Forget about You' and 'Boyfriend', which features Snoop Dogg on guest vocals and is the band's highest charting single to date, placing at no.72 on the Billboard 100.

In July 2011, promotional work for 'Elevate', BTR's second and most current release to date, was underway through the single 'If I Ruled the World' which features hip-hop artist Iyaz. The album finally dropped on November 2011 with its lead single 'Music Sound Better with U' notching the 26th spot on the Billboard Pop charts. The track was written by the band with help from One Republic's Ryan Tedder. Right before the album came out, the band announced that 'The Better with U Tour' will kick off in February 2012. The national jaunt will include 16 shows, 10 of which will feature British-Irish act One Direction as openers. The album's second single, 'Superstar' featuring rapper Pitbull, is slated to hit the airwaves in early 2012.
