avicii Biography
Avicii is a DJ and record producer hailing from Stockholm, Sweden best known for his hit debut single 'Seek Bromance' (2010), which charted on the top 20 all over Europe and even topped the Belgian Ultratop charts. Born Tim Bergling on September 8, 1989, Avicii, who is also known in music and club circles as Tim Berg, broke into the house scene in 2008 after releasing his first official single, 'Lazy Lace', a remix and sample of the theme from the classic video game 'Lazy Jones'.
From then on, Avicii have collaborated with other well-known DJs such as Tiesto, fellow Swede John Dahlback, Sebastian Ingrosso and David Guetta, with whom he shared a Grammy nod in the Best Dance Recording category for the track 'Sunshine' (2011). He is currently signed under EMI Music, giving him better leverage to promote and spread his work, which mostly features house, electro house and progressive house sounds and beats infused with remixed tracks from other artists, such as Etta James' 'Something's Got a Hold on Me' which appears on his current single 'Levels', his most successful single to date after it entered the top 10 in Europe (no.1 in Sweden) and notching the 60th spot on the Billboard 100, his first material to enter the American charts. His most successful work to hit stateside was the Leona Lewis single 'Collide' where he appears as a featured artist. The track peaked at no.1 on the Billboard Dance Club charts.
Avicii kicked off his first world tour in 2010 with shows spread out all over North America and Europe. During that tour, he performed at various clubs and events from coast to coast in the US and Canada including the Ultra Music Festival and SET and Nikki Beach in Miami, Club Pacha in NYC, Toronto's The Guvernment, Los Angeles' Electric Daisy Carnival (where he commanded a large crowd, the largest in his concert history yet), Wet Republic's Daylife in Las Vegas, Ruby Skye in San Francisco and many more. Over in Europe, he held shows in Ibiza, Monaco, The Netherlands, Toulouse and many more. His concerts are also frequently aired over at the Trance and Progressive House channel of Sirius XM Radio.
On March 2 and 3, 2012, Avicii is slated to perform in his native Stockholm at the Ericsson Globe Arena, the tickets for which have sold out six hours after it started to go on sale.
A testament to Avicii's growing popularity are the several remixed tracks - sampled and original - uploaded on YouTube, MySpace and other websites that are credited to his name, although none of the tracks are his nor bears any sample or reference to his material. His name is frequently used by unknown artists, DJs or simple uploaders to attract search hits and further attention.
