Josh Groban, the American musician, singer-songwriter, record producer and actor was born in Los Angeles, California on February 27, 1981. He has released four solo albums. All of them are certified multi-platinum at least. In 2007, Josh Groban was charted as the U.S. best selling artist with sales of more than 21 million records. He has sold, to date, more than 24 million worldwide albums.
Originally, Josh Groban studied acting. However his voice developed and became a significant instrument. One critical event that helped to change the course of Groban’s life was after Seth Riggs, his vocal coach, submitted a tape where Josh was singing The Phantom of the Opera song All I Ask of You to David Foster the composer, arranger and renowned producer. Foster asked Groban to rehearse with Celine Dion on a duet of The Prayer in place of a sick Andrea Bocelli at a Grammy Awards rehearsal in 1988. Rosie O’Donnell was impressed and invited him to make an appearance on her talk show. Another big break for Groban came when he was asked by Foster to sign at the 1999 inauguration of Gray Davis as California Governor. His career and name recognition soared after appearing on the television show Ally McBeal and when he performed You’re Still You in the 2001 season finale for the show.
Groban released his self-title debut album in November 2001. The set eventually went double platinum. Closer, his second album, was released in November 2003. It reached number on Billboard’s charts. It 2006 he released Awake, his third album. In November 2010, Josh Groban released Illuminations, his fourth album.
