Harry Connick, Jr., the American singer, pianist composer and actor, was born on September 11, 1967 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Connick has sold more than 25 million worldwide albums. The R.I.A.A. has Connick ranked in the top 60 top selling male artists for the U.S. with a total of 16 million certified records. He has had seven U.S. albums in the top 20, ten number one jazz albums in the U.S., and has had more number one albums in history on the jazz chart in the US.
Connick’s top selling US album is When My Heart Finds Christmas, which was released in 1993. His 2004 Only You is Connick’s highest charting album, which reached the No. 6 spot in Britain and No. 5 spot in the U.S. Connick has won one Emmy and three Grammys. From 2002-06, he played Dr. Leo Markus, Grace’s husband on the television show Will & Grace.
Connick’s acting career started in 1990 in the movie Memphis Belle where he played a World War II tail gunner. In 1995, he appeared in Copycat as a serial killer and in the 1996 film Independence Day played a jet fighter pilot. In 1998, he played the leading man opposite Sandra Bullock in Hope Floats. In 2007, Connick appeared in Bug playing a violent ex-husband. He has also appeared in two romantic comedies, P.S. I Love You, in 2007 and New in Town in 2009 opposite Renee Zellweger.
