Frequently Asked Questions
What songs will Ellie Goulding play in concert?
Ellie Goulding is a rather new act on the United Kingdom music landscape. Without a large discography to choose from, her selections remain rather consistent from one night to the next.
The famed pop artist leans heavily on her record, Halycon, with almost every charting single from the record, including “Hanging On,” “Anything Could Happen,” and “Explosions” included. She opens most shows with the interesting cut, “Figure 8”, which later released as a single. It is not the lead from the new record, but actually one that appears six tracks deep. This is an interesting choice for giving a spark to the crowd.
Goulding’s fame comes from her highest charting and most popular song, “Lights.” It does not close the show, with that distinction going to the big synth-laden hook on “Burn.” But “Lights” closes the initial set preceding the encore, and it reminds us why Ellie Goulding is taking over the UK pop scene and making in roads stateside.
Ellie stays away from covers in general, but she will sporadically pull out a cover of Elton John’s gorgeous love ballad, “Your Song,” which always appears in the middle of the setlist. It is a bizarre choice given Goulding’s tendency to attract a much younger audience, most likely unfamiliar with Elton John’s work in general.
A few songs are intermingled with other tracks from her career. For example, she may play the first half of “Tessellate” and then cut it off and turn into the introduction of “Guns and Horses.” Sometimes, these are fluid and a wonderfully poignant way to approach old songs in a new light.
In all, Goulding plays about 60% from her new album. Below is a representative set from her recent Halcyon Tour.

What should I expect at the show?
Ellie Goulding has a sensationally sensual swagger and powerful stage presence. The crowd leans considerably younger than many people would expect.
Goulding has managed to cross over into multiple genres rather seamlessly, being born from the world of hipster rock a la Bon Iver and Sky Ferrerira, yet having a pulsating pop sound more familiar to Miley Cyrus or Lily Allen. But, she incorporates many electronic elements, such as the sounds heard in dubstep or trap music, which makes for a wide ranging audience and theatrical show. Goulding is sexy onstage, as she improvises dance moves through instrumental passages while weaving in and out of thundering lights.
She also plays a handful of tracks purely acoustic, which could be a bit jarring if you don’t expect it. She balances out the somber moments of her set by injecting this big dance sound.
How long is a Ellie Goulding Concert?
Ellie Goulding plays for about 90 minutes. She spends a bit of time talking to the audience and introduces a few of the slower ballad-type tracks with a nice little VH1 Songwriters-type narrative.
Wait, Ellie Goulding is dating who?
If you haven’t heard, Ellie is currently dating dubstep and electronica mastermind Skrillex, who is currently working on his new album. And no, Skrillex is not expected to make any appearances, though the idea is certainly wonderful.
Who is Ellie Goulding’s publicist and press contact?
Press inquires for Ellie Goulding should be forward through her label Polydor. Susie Ember handles Goulding’s publicity matters for Polydor.
How do I get access to presale tickets for Ellie Goulding’s tour?
It depends on the market you are trying for. There doesn’t seem to be one consistent provider like AMEX or a fan club. We have seen venue, radio, AEG and LiveNation presales connected with a variety of Ellie dates. Given this scattershot approach, our best advice is to follow the outlet’s social media accounts and sign up for their mailing list to get presale codes.
Concert Reviews
“Ellie Goulding showed the New York crowd at Terminal 5 what she was made of: charisma, loads of energy and unbelievable natural and raw talent. Her live show garners an A rating. Her vocals were sultry and captivating and she possessed great stage presence. She also looked stunning and she proved that she is one of the most underrated songstresses that contemporary pop music has to offer.” – Markos Papadatos of the Examiner
“The concert of Ellie Goulding was worth looking forward to for so long. The fans were treated to a very extended set, a total of 19 songs, all of which were worth every Euro spent on sold-out tickets. She truly knows how to bring her songs live in a way that makes the crowd go wild or silent when appropriate. She is a goddess on stage and a sweetheart next to it.” – Emile Tondeur of Meet the Sound
“Though, in hindsight, it’s probably best those ballads shared similar real estate on the setlist. After all, Goulding lined up several sticks of dynamite hits to shut down the night; from “Anything Could Happen” to “Starry Eyed” to “I Need Your Love” to “Lights”. Things got sweaty, the evening turned dancey, and all those breathless youths burned through their Capri-Sun-insulin.” – Michael Roffman of Consequence of Sound
