Bob Dylan 2017 Never Ending Tour Opening Bands: To Be Determined
Narrow Events by City
Bob Dylan, the American musician, singer-songwriter, painter and poet, was born in Duluth, Minnesota on May 24, 1941. Over the course of his five decade career, he has been widely influential in popular music. Dylan’s most celebrated work is from the 1960s. Several of his songs from that time like “The Times They Are a-Changin” and “Blowin in the Wind” became anthems for anti-war and U.S. civil rights movements. In 1965, he moved away from his folk music base with his six minute song “Like a Rolling Stone” to help revolutionize and expand popular music.
Dylan’s lyrics draw on a wide array of literary, philosophical, social and political influences. His songs defied the existing conventions of pop music and had a huge appeal to the growing counterculture of that time. Dylan was inspired initially by songs of Hank Williams, Robert Johnson and Woody Guthrie and performance styles of Little Richard and Buddy Holly. Dylan’s fifty year recording career has explored numerous American song traditions- from folk, country and blues to rockabilly, rock and roll and gospel to English, Irish and Scottish folk music. He has even embraced jazz and swing music.
Dylan performs with harmonica, guitar and keyboards. Since the latter 1980s, he has toured on a steady basis, backed by an ever-changing group of musicians on what has been called The Never Ending Tour. Dylan’s performance and recording accomplishments have been major, however it is his songwriting which is generally considered as his greatest contribution.
Over the years, Dylan has been honored with numerous awards, including Academy, Golden Globe and Grammy Awards. He is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Songwriters Hall of Fame and Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame. Dylan has also had his work exhibited at major art galleries and has had three books of paintings and drawings published.
To date, the band is still active and its line-up intact all original with no departures and no replacements since day one. At present, Rammstein is on the road for the Made in Germany 1995-2011 Tour, in support of their eponymous compilation record to be released in December 2011. The two-leg European tour kicked off in Bratislava, Slovakia on November 6, with the first leg closing in Zurich, Switzerland on December 12. The second leg will open on February 3, 2012 in Hanover, Germany and will wrap up on March 8, 2012 in Antwerp, Belgium.
