Widespread Panic, Primus, Avett Brothers Form Mountain Jam 2013 Line Up
Held once again in the Catskill Mountains in Hunter Mountain, New York, this year’s event will take place June 6-June 9.
The Avett Brothers return to the festival after appearing in 2010 and 2011, while Primus and Widespread Panic will be making their debut appearances at the festival. Primus will headline the first night of the festival, marking an expanded Thursday night lineup new for this year.
Other artists that will perform are Gov’t Mule, who have played every year of Mountain Jam. They will perform two sets that will feature “classic and deep cuts from the band’s arsenal of rock ‘n’ roll tunes, as well as astounding covers,” according to a press release. Phil Lesh, founding member of the Grateful Dead, also will perform with his group Phil Lesh & Friends. The revolving group of “Friends” this year includes Warren Haynes, John Scofield, Joe Russo and Jeff Chimenti.
Additionally, Garry Clark, Jr., Dispatch, Jackie Greene, Soulive featuring The Shady Horns, Deer Tick, Rubblebucket, The Gramblers, the Revivalists, David Wax Museum, SIMO and Amy Helm will appear at the festival. The latter is the daughter of Levon Helm, the late drummer for the Band.
For the first time, organizers will offer car camping this year, which allows visitors to camp with their car rather than “hauling gear up the Mountain.” Also new is a Super VIP ticket package.
“Mountain Jam’s Super VIP package will offer an experience unlike any other, providing fully catered meals in the artist hospitality hall, a meet and greet with Mountain Jam artists, free massages and skyrides, special Super VIP up-close and personal viewing for the main stages, exclusive festival merchandise, and discounted rates on lodging, Premium Camping, or Premium RV Passes,” read the statement.
