Vince Gill, the songwriter-singer and multi-instrumentalist, was born on April 12, 1957 in Norman, Oklahoma. During the 1970s he achieved fame and commercial success as the frontman for Pure Prairie League, the country rock band. He launched his solo career in 1983. He has been in high demand for his many talents as duet partner, guest vocalist, musician and vocalist. Gill has recorded over 20 albums, had more than 40 singles chart on Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart and sold over 22 million albums. Gill has won 18 CMA awards as well as 20 Grammy Awards, which the most among male country musicians. Gill became a member of Country Music's Hall of Fame in 2007.

Gill made his national musical debut in 1979 with Pure Prairie League and appeared on "Can't Hold Back," the band's eighth album. Gill was lead singer on "Let Me Love You Tonight," the band's hit single. As a soloist Gill has released twelve studio albums in addition to multiple compilation albums. Gill has also had over forty singles chart on Billboard's country chart, with five of them reaching No. 1.

In 1984 Gill released "Turn Me Loose," his first solo album. It spawned three charted singles: the title track, "Oh Carolina" and "Victim of Life's Circumstances." In 1985 he released his next album "The Things That Matter." His 1987 set "The Way Back Home" spawned Gill's top five single "Cinderella." Gill's 1989 album, "When I Call Your Name," was his breakthrough. The title track peaked in the No. 2 spot and won Gill a Grammy Award. The album sold over one million copies. His followup 1991 album, "Pocket Full of Gold," went platinum as well and spawned four Top Ten hits. Gill reached superstar status with the release of his 1992 album "I Still Believe in You." The title track became Hill's first No. 1 single. Gill's most recent album "Guitar Slinger" was released in 2011.
