Velvet Revolver Find Replacement for Lead Singer Scott Weiland

Slash and the rest of Velvet Revolver have finally found themselves a new vocalist after keeping their fans, and themselves, waiting for a long time.

In a radio interview with The Pulse of Radio, band drummer Matt Sorum confirmed the news but declined to name the latest addition to the band. But he gushed about the new front man as a “younger and stronger” “known guy” that they “really like a lot” and that could define the “real turning point for the band”.

Speculations are that Frankie Perez of Scars of Broadway, Royston Langdon of Spacehog or Myles Kennedy of Alter Bridge are shaping to be the band’s new lead vocalist and replacement to Scott Weiland, who departed in 2008 to hold vocalist duties once again for the Stone Temple Pilots. Perez and Langdon are reported to have auditioned for the band while Kennedy’s close ties to Slash as part of the rock star’s tour for the past two years is a significant contributing factor, according to insiders.

“We can’t make the announcement yet because we’re ‘dating,’ you know. We haven’t consummated the relationship, we haven’t sat down this gentleman and made the agreement together,” was Sorum’s response when asked why he can’t reveal who the new guy is just yet.

And although it took the band a really long time to find a replacement for Weiland, Sorum says that they will reveal who it is soon, as they are also “tired of it”, “it” meaning the seeking and waiting. “But we don’t have the ability to just jump out there with any singer. We can’t do it,” the drummer explains.
