Usher Lays Out 21-Date European Tour for 2013

It’s a big week for Usher. After just announcing he will be a coach on NBC’s “The Voice,” next season, now he has revealed he will undertake an extensive European tour in early 2013.

Dubbed the “Euphoria World Tour,” the jaunt will hit arenas all around Europe, beginning January 18 in Amsterdam, and is scheduled to continue through March 14 when the R&B singer will perform in Nice, France. Other countries he will hit along the way include England, Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Denmark. All UK dates will be opened by Rita Ora.

The tour will be supporting Usher’s newest album, Looking 4 Myself. The set is the singer’s seventh studio album, and was released in June of this year and debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 albums chart. Notable producers on the record include Rick Ross, Diplo, Salaam Remi, Max Martin and Rico Love.

Usher was recently announced as an upcoming coach on “The Voice” along with Shakira. The two singers will replace Cee Lo Green and Christina Aguilera during the fourth season of the show. However, both of the later are expected back for the fifth season, and NBC executives hope to have a revolving pool of talent for the show for coming seasons.

“Having award-winning artists as coaches means they need to be able to tour,” said executive producer Mark Burnett. “Whether in the red chair or on tour, our coaches have their chairs for life. This is exactly why, after three seasons, we needed to allow them to rotate out so they can get on the road amongst their fans. Meanwhile, we’re incredibly excited to have singular artists like Usher and Shakira joining the fold.”

The two remaining original coaches on the show are Maroon 5 singer Adam Levine and country star Blake Shelton. There has been no official word as to whether these two will appear alongside Usher and Shakira.
