Ultra Music Fest 2014 Features Avicii, Steve Angello, Kaskade
Ultra Music Festival announced ‘Phase One’ of its 2014 lineup on its website yesterday morning, confirming its return to a single weekend (March 28th-30th) after marking its 15th anniversary this year with two weekends.
If you’re thinking about going to an EDM festival, then odds are, you know what to expect and to be honest, you’re likely to be happy with the headliners: Afrojack, Armin Van Buuren, Avicii, David Guetta, Kaskade and Tiësto.
One thing the line-up or ‘announcement’ does little to explain is the order in which acts are due to perform – all names appear in the same size and font, and the broad selection of headliners are listed only alphabetically. So, in short, your guess is as good as ours (unless you are on the Ultra committee, then it’s probably a lot better than ours.)
Over the past few years, Ultra has established itself as the unofficial launch event of EDM festival season, along with Miami Music Winter Conference. It’s become a broad platform for big moments as well. In 2013, Swedish House Mafia played their last ever show, and Avicii premiered future country-EDM crossover (most unlikely combo ever, am I right?) mega hit “Wake Me Up!” live with a country/folk band.
One of the only EDM festivals to support live performances, Ultra’s Live Stage will feature electronic acts like Paul Kalkbrenner, Gesaffelstein and crossover appearances by Dizzee Rascal, Example and British genre-hopper M.I.A., making her Ultra debut.
The 20 DJ Headliners are as follows, because we all know how much you love lists:
Above & Beyond
Armin van Buuren
New World Punx
Whereas, the live headliner list looks a little like this:
Chase & Status
Empire of the Sun
The Glitch Mob
