Tom Petty, Kings of Leon Featured at Gulf Shore’s Hangout Music Festival

The Hangout Music Festival is quickly becoming one of the most anticipated music festivals in the country by adding bigger and better lineups every year. This year’s festival stands to be no different as Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers will headline the festival along with Kings of Leon.

This year’s event will be the fourth incarnation of the festival that is held on the beach in Gulf Shores, Alabama every year. The three-day festival will take place May 17-19, and will feature a third headliner that has yet to be named.

Other notable acts this year include the Shins, Trey Anastasio Band, Black Crowes, Kendrick Lamar, Jim James, the Breeders, Ellie Goulding, Passion Pit, Jason Isbell & 400 Unit, Ryan Bingham, the Roots, Public Enemy, moe., Shovels and Rope and Bassnectar.

Tickets to last year’s event sold out quickly, and early bird tickets to this year’s version sold out within five minutes of going on sale last December. Three-day passes will go on sale tomorrow, February 15, and organizers seem to believe the festival will sell out again, as no one-day passes will be sold. Additionally, no tickets will be sold at the gate of the festival. The festival has a capacity of 35,000.

In addition to music, the festival features a slew of games, food vendors, amusement rides and more.

Organizers withheld the third headliner last year as well, revealing only that Dave Matthews Band and Jack White would be at the top of the festival’s proverbial marquee. However, it only took a few days for the Red Hot Chili Peppers to be announced as the final headliner. No word yet on when the big reveal will happen this time around.

Thus far, the Kings of Leon planned appearance at the show is only the second scheduled concert of the year for the band, following an appearance at the Napa, Calif. Bottle Rock festival earlier in May. The band’s last tour, in 2011, was cancelled due to “vocal issues and exhaustion” suffered by frontman Caleb Followill, according to a release at the time.
