the voice Biography
The American reality talent program “The Voice” premiered on NBC on April 26, 2011.
The television series belongs to The Voice franchise. Its competition format is similar to “The Voice of Holland,” a Netherlands program. Carson Daly is the show's host and Alison Haislip serves as the social networking and backstage correspondent. “The Voice” winner will be given $100,000 along with a Universal Republic record deal. The vocal coaches and judges are Blake Shelton, Adam Levine (lead vocalist of Maroon 5), Cee Lo Green and Christina Aguilera. Adam Blackstone, music producer, and singers Sia Furler, Monica and Reba McEntire joined Shelton, Levine, Green and Aguilera later in the competition. Furler coached with Aguilera, McEntire with Shelton, Monica with Green and Blackstone with Levine.
There are three phases to the competition: the blind audition, followed by the battle phase and then the live performance shows. Teams of contestants are chosen by four judges/coaches, who are well known musicians, through the blind audition process. The auditioner performances last approximately one minute and each judge can decide whether they want that particular singer on their team. If more than one judge selects the singer, then the singer is allowed to choose their coach.
The coach mentors and helps to develop their team of singers. During the second stage, team members will battle each other through singing the same songs. The coach will chose which member of the team will advance. During the final phase, all the remaining contests compete during live broadcasts. Members from the television audience help to determine who moves on. Once there is only one team member left for each coach, remaining contestants compete during the finale against each other.
