The Monkees Celebrate 45th Anniversary with North American Tour
The Monkees could be coming to a city near you. The group that was once called “The Pre-Fab Four” has gotten back together and will embark on a North American tour for the first time in more than 10 years. They will perform a minimum of one time in Canada on the tour.
The Monkees will begin their tour in North America, which is centered on the commemoration of their 45 years together, at Chastain Park in Atlanta, on June 3.
Right now, the only performance in Canada will be at the Fallsview Casino Resort in Niagara Falls, ON on June 11 and 12.
There will also be concerts at the Florida Theatre in Jacksonville, Fla. on June 6; the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, Conn. On June 10; the Beacon Theatre in New York City on June 16; the Fox Theatre in Detroit on June 23; the Zoo Amphitheatre in Minneapolis on July 1 and 2; the Paramount Theatre in Denver on July 5; the Fox Theatre in Bakersfield, Calif. on July 13; and the Morongo Casino in Cabazon, Calif. on July 15. Their final show will be at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles on July 16.
Out of the 4 original Monkees that were on television in the 1960s, 3 of them will return for the tour. These are Peter Tork, Micky Dolenz, and Davy Jones.
The only member not performing this summer is Michael “Wool Hat” Nesmith, who was the original guitarist for the band.
While old fans of the group will enjoy the comedy and musical hits from the band’s time in the limelight, another generation of fans will be exposed to their classic style.
Tickets for the tour will be available starting on March 4. You can visit the Monkee’s Facebook fan page for more information.
Are you aware? The Monkees were just about as popular as the Beatles in the middle of the 1960s. The band eventually sold 5 million albums internationally.
