The Killers Schedule North American Dates on World Tour
Earlier this month, the Killers announced a U.K. tour to support their new album, Battle Born, and now the Las Vegas group have revealed the first North American dates for the tour.
The U.S. and Canada run will kick off a couple weeks after the end of the U.K. tour with a November 29 show at the 1st Bank Center in Broomfield, Colo. After that, the tour is scheduled to run through a two-night hometown gig at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas December 28-29. In between these dates, the band will visit Orem, Utah; Vancouver; Camden, N.J.; New York; Toronto; Boston; Fairfax, Va.; Ypsilanti, Mich. and Chicago. Indie rocker twins Tegan & Sara will open all dates of the tour.
In addition to these newly announced dates, the group also will perform tonight (September 18) at Webster Hall in New York. The performance will be filmed by legendary film director Werner Herzog for a webcast that is part of the American Express Unstaged series. Later this month, they will perform a one-off gig at the Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles on September 26.
After the U.S. dates, the Killers will travel around Australia as part of the Big Day Out Festival. The festival will visit Sydney, Gold Coast, Adelaide, Melbourne and Perth throughout the last half of January.
Battle Born is out today and is the group’s fourth studio album, and the first since 2008’s Day & Age. The title of the new record is taken from the state motto of Nevada, “The Battle Born State.”
The Killers were on an unofficial hiatus of sorts in the years after touring for Day & Age and the release of the new album. In between, frontman Brandon Flowers released his first solo album, Flamingo. The album reached number eight on the Billboard album charts.
