The Decemberists Release New Round of US Tour Dates
A second round of tour dates in the U.S. have been announced by the Decemberists for this Spring. The trek will kick off in Colorado Springs, Colorado on April 16 and cover the South and Midwest before wrapping up on May 2 in Atlanta, Georgia. The run of 14 dates will include the first-ever appearance by the band at New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. The Decemberists will perform on May 1. In addition the outing will include a rescheduled performance on April 22 for Royal Oak, Michigan. A limited presale for select dates currently is underway. Starting on February 11 tickets will be going on for the general public.
Currently the Decemberists are in the middle of their sold out first round on the band’s North American tour following the release of “The King Is Dead,” their number one album. The live show of the band has drawn rave reviews already from the Chicago Sun-Times, Chicago Tribune and New York Times. According to the New York Post, their set spans the ten year career of the band, but leans most heavily on their new set “The King is Dead.” That record’s songs provide the best evidence for why the Decemberists should be superstars.
Recently, the Rolling Stones premiered “The Great Outdoors.” Yo Gabba Gabba wrote the original song that The Decemberists performed. It will appear during the popular children’s Nick Jr. television show on its February 8 episode. The Decemberists are also being featuring in upcoming weeks on the XMU Sirius channel on February 9, on “Morning Becomes Eclectic” on KCRW on February 11 and on February 14 on the World Cafe.
