On January 25 The Decemberists are kicking off the first leg from the band’s “Popes of Pendarvia World Tour” at Beacon Theater in New York City.  A limited pre-sale started on November 15 at the band’s website for all of the North American shows.

“The King is Dead,” the band’s upcoming album, will be released on January 18.  The Decemberists, to promote the tour ticket on-sales, will make an appearance on November 18 on “Conan.”  Gillian Welch will join them on stage.  Welch performs on seven of the new album’s tracks.

Opening the shows will be Wye Oak from January 25 through February.  Mountain Man will open from February 5 through February 19.
