The American rock band, the Black Crowes, was established in 1989 in Atlanta, Georgia. The band has released nine studio albums, several charting singles and four live albums over the course of their career.

In 1989 producer George Drakoulias signed the band to the Def American Recordings label. In 1990 the Black Crowes released "Shake Your Money Maker," their debut album. The set spawned several hit singles, including "Twice As Hard," "Jealous Again" "She Talks to Angels" and "Hard to Handle." "Shake Your Money Maker" eventually reached multi-platinum status, selling more than three million copies. In 1992 they followed up with "The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion." The album topped Billboard's 200 chart. In 1994 the band released their third album, "Amorica" and in 1996 their fourth album "Three Snakes and One Charm." In 1999 the Black Crowes released "By Your Side" and in 2001 "Lions."

From 2005 through 2005 the Black Crowes were on hiatus. They released "Warpaint" in 2008. The album reached the No. 5 spot on Billboard's 200 chart. In 2010 the band released "Croweolgy, a greatest hit double album. They followed up the release up with their 20th anniversary tour before going on their second hiatus. The Black Crowes have announced they will be reuniting in 2013.

The Black Crowes have opened for numerous rock acts over the course of their career,including ZZ Top, Aerosmith, the Grateful Dead, the Dave Matthews Band, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Robert Plant and Heart. The band has also performed with Oasis and Jimmy Pages, among other musicians. The Black Crowes have sold more than 30 million albums.
