Sugarland, Lady Antebellum Lead CMT Nominations
On April 5, the first batch of CTM Music Award nominees for 2010 were announced. Leading the pack were Sugarland, Lady Antebellum and Jason Aldean with four nominations each. Zac Brown Band, Carrie Underwood, Taylor Swift, Brad Paisley, Kenny Chesney and Brooks & Dunn all had three nominations.
After reviewing the nominees, it doesn’t appear this time that there is a clear favorite. Aldean hasn’t won yet despite paying his dues. With “American Honey,” “Need You Now” and “I Run to You” Lady Antebellum’s year has been incredible. It may be the final appearance for Brooks & Dunn on the ballot. Swift has an army of fans that are computer savvy, so races in every category will be close.
First round voting from the fans is underway. It will narrow down to four finalists for each category. On May 11, each category’s finalists will be announced. In the second round, fans are able to vote to pick a winner for each category with the exception of Video of the Year. Top honor voting starts 8 pm E.T. On June 9 when the CMT Music Awards 2010 show airs on television.
