Slash Grabs Foxy Shazam for North American Tour

Slash has added a fall leg to his current tour schedule, and he will be taking rockers Foxy Shazam out on the road with him.

The first of the newly announced concerts will be held on September 4 at the House of Blues, and the tour will wind its ways across North America and back before ending with a final show at the Wiltern in Los Angeles on October 3. In between, the tour will hit cities including Phoenix, Dallas, New Orleans, Atlanta, New York, Detroit, Indianapolis, Chicago and Oakland.

It should be noted that Foxy Shazam will not be appearing at the September 16 date in Hampton Beach, NH. or the September 23 date in Toronto.

The tour will support Slash’s most recent solo album, Apocalyptic Love, which was released in May. He will be backed on the tour by Myles Kennedy & the Conspirators. Kennedy, the singer for Alter Bridge, co-wrote all of the songs on the album with Slash, and also provides lead vocals on all tracks.

In addition to Foxy Shazam, each city also will feature support from an unsigned local band. Slash has teamed up with Guitar Center to present a contest for unsigned bands to compete for the coveted opening spots. Twenty groups will be hand-picked by Slash to perform at a show on the tour.

In addition, selected bands will receive a tour support prize pack with gear from brands like Ernie Ball, Zoom, Dunlop, Monster Cable, Pro-Mark and Converse. After the run, Slash will select a grand prize winner from all the bands will perform, and that group will receive $10,000 worth of guitars from Gibson and Epiphone as well as a $5,000 shopping spree at Guitar Center.

“I’m a strong believer that the best way to get your music heard is to get out there and play shows,” Slash said about the contest. “There are tons of talented bands that simply don’t have the resources to go on your, so I’m glad to be able to host them on my tour and at the same time introduce my fans to great, undiscovered artists.”
