Ryan Adams Goes All Acoustic for West Coast
Songwriter and singer Ryan Adams has his first solo tour planned since 2009. The outing will kick off this fall to support “Ashes & Fire,” his upcoming album.
The former frontman of Whiskeytown will start their road trip of 10 dates with a San Diego performance on October 11. The tour of intimate solo shows will wind its way north across the West Coast before wrapping up at City Arts fest in Seattle on October 21.
On Friday, tickets will be going on sale at paxamrecords.com.
On October 11, Adams will be releasing his eighth solo album, ”Ashes & Fire,” via PAX-AM Records, his own imprint with Capitol Records. The set of 11 tracks features backing vocals from Norah Jones and was recorded in Hollywood at Sunset Sound Factory. It was the first time Adams and producer Glyn Johns (The Beatles, Bob Dylan) have worked together. Ethan Johns, his son, produced three earlier releases of Adams’: “29,” “Gold” and “Heartbreaker.”
The upcoming collection is a followup to “Orion” from last year. According to Adams’ website, the set was a completely realized sci-fi concept metal album.
