Rock the Bells 2013 Offers Shuffled Line-Up of Kid Cudi, Common, A$AP Mob
Organizers of hip hop festival, Rock The Bells, have confirmed the festival’s finalized line up approximately a month before its opening date on September 7th in Devore, California at the San Manuel Amphitheater.
Rock The Bells is a touring two day hip hop festival and after its stint in Devore, will then travel to Mountain View, California on September 14th-15th, Washington, D.C on September 28th-29th before finishing its jaunt in E. Rutherford, New Jersey on October 4th-5th.
The finalized line up features performances from the seven dwarves of the hip hop world, A$AP Mob, featuring A$AP Rocky, A$AP Ferg, A$AP Ant, A$AP Twelvy and A$AP Nast. (But no sign of A$AP Grumpy or A$AP Dopey – HA! Wot a good joke.)
Other newly-announced performing artists include Joey Bada$$ With Pro Era, Logic, Stalley, Young Dirty Bastard, and The Internet, and Trinidad James and Action Bronson, who will perform at the Devore show.
Rock The Bells will also feature cool science fiction-style holographic performances by Eazy-E of NWA and Ol’ Dirty Bastard of Wu-Tang Clan, after festival organizers were granted permission by the families and estates of the deceased entertainers.
Festival founder, Chang Weisberg released the following statement commenting on the use of virtual performances:
“Despite initial reports of problems with rights clearances, I’m very pleased to announce that the estates are both 100% on board. Furthermore, not only are the families on board with the virtual performances, they are actually participating with the creation of them. This ensures the authenticity and integrity of the performances. It’s a monumental moment for music and technology that Eazy’s and ODB’s children have lent their DNA to these historic performances. Their bodies, faces, and voices have been captured to help recreate their fathers’ avatars. The process has been extremely rewarding to say the least. Seeing family members honoring their fathers in such a unique way has been incredible to witness. Watching Tomica Wright [Eazy-E’s widow] share her most intimate perspective to make sure every detail is authentic and accurate has been a blessing. I almost cried watching Young Dirty Bastard channeling his father’s uncanny stage charisma. It was pure magic. I cannot wait for the family members to see all their hard work. It will truly be historic.”
My prediction for most futuristic festival of 2013: This festival.
The newly-announced acts join already-confirmed acts Kid Cudi, Common, Jurassic 5 and many more.
