Rhianna Follows VMA Success with 2013 Tour Announcement

Rihanna kicked off the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards last night with a medley of her hits and later won Video of the Year award for the video for “We Found Love,” and now she has stayed in the spotlight by announcing a new world tour for next year.

The North American leg of the tour will visit arenas around the United States and Canada, and will kick off on March 8, 2013 with a performance at the First Niagara Center in Buffalo, N.Y. She will close out the North American trek with a show at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on May 4. The singer also will visit cities including Boston, Montreal, Toronto, Detroit, Chicago, Calgary, Vancouver, San Diego, Las Vegas, Dallas and Atlanta.

The tour, dubbed “Rihanna Diamonds World Tour,” will support her most recent album, Talk That Talk, which was released in November of last year. Thus far, the album has spawned six singles, with the most recent being “Cockiness (Love It).” She performed the song with A$AP Rocky as part of her medley opening the VMAs.

Rihanna’s most recent tour was 2011’s “LOUD Tour,” which lasted the majority of last year. The tour became the 7th highest grossing tour of 2011 after it grossed $90 million around the world. Impressively, the singer sold out 10 nights at London’s O2 Arena, a first by a female solo artist.

So far throughout her relatively short career, Rihanna has already sold more than 37 million albums, along with 146 million digital tracks. The latter fact makes her the current top selling digital artist of all time. She has won six Grammy Awards and has had 11 number one singles on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.

The “Rihanna Diamonds World Tour” is presented by Live Nation Global Touring.
