Rage Against the Machine Brings L.A. Rising Festival Back in 2014
Those comments Tom Morello made a little while ago about Rage Against The Machine’s supposedly fragile performance future are looking pretty silly now. He must be SO EMBARRASSED.
And so he should be: you shouldn’t go around making wild threats about never performing ever again and scaring the life out of your fans (well, he didn’t actually say ‘never’ – that’s just how everyone in cyberspace interpreted it.)
Anyhow, I don’t want to turn this into me feeling personally victimized by Tom Morello, cause this is basically a good news story.
Turns out, L.A. Rising, AKA the concert organized by and performed at by Rage Against The Machine in 2012, is set to return in 2014, with a post on the festival’s Facebook page declaring:
“Plans for L.A. Rising 2014 are underway. August 2014 may seem distant, but the road to L.A. Rising will not be barren. More info to come…”
L.A. Rising 2012 was held at the L.A. Coliseum and featured performances from Rage Against the Machine, Muse, Rise Against, Lauryn Hill, Immortal Technique and El Gran Silencio.
Now, obviously, this isn’t the worldwide tour fans had been somewhat optimistically anticipating ever since Rage Against The Machine released Rage Against the Machine – XX – the 20th Anniversary Deluxe Edition, but I think we can all agree that it’s better than nothing.
Tom Morello told Rolling Stone magazine last year,
“It was my great hope that we’d celebrate the 20th anniversary with a five-continent world tour.”
You and me both, babe.
In the meantime, let’s focus on thinking happy thoughts about all of this. Until Zack de la Rocha explicitly knocks on my door to tell me they’re done with all that rap metal business, I’m gonna keep my head firmly in the sand, and I’ll be using every piece of evidence I’ve got to convince myself I’m doing the right thing, so the return of L.A. Rising can only be a good thing for Ostrich-types like myself.
