Prince to Roll Out Concert Leg in December
Prince on Thursday night announced a concert series in which Sinbad, Esperanza Spalding, Mint Condition, Sheila E., Janelle Monae, Cassandra Wilson and Maceo, among others, will be joining him as special guests. Prince, who was wearing a ruffled black suit and sunglasses said during his press conference at New York’s Apollo Theater, I have a lot of hits. Bring your footspray. It will be funky.
The details are not clear yet. However Prince did say the shows will start on a December 2010 Purple Day. A rep from LiveNation said there are plans for a multiple night stand, entitled “Welcome 2 America” for the New York City area. The last time Prince had an extensive tour of the U.S. was in 2004. In 2006 he did have a brief Las Vegas residency and in 2008 was a headliner at Coachella.
