Prince Proclaims the Internet to be Dead
Prince has declared that the internet is completely done. It is like MTV. It was hip at one time. Now it is outdated.
The Daily Mirror published Prince’s lengthy internet death knell article that also discusses “20TEN,” his new album being released free on July 10 with the British newspaper.
In Prince’s first interview in ten years with a newspaper in Britain, the legendary musician stated that his new CD is being distributed exclusively with the Mirror giveaway in the UK. No digital copies are being made available.
The Mirror reports that because of his ongoing battles with internet abuses, he has also banned iTunes and YouTube from using his music and closed his website down.
Prince said, why should I give my music away to iTunes and the rest. They don’t pay me anything in advance. They get angry whenever they don’t get it.
He added, all these digital gadgets and computers are no good. All they do is fill you head up with numbers. How can that be any good for you.
Prince didn’t reveal many details regarding the new album with the reporter who flew trans-Atlantic in order to get a last minute, rare interview. He was, however, able to preview a couple songs after the reporter assured him he had no recording device with him.
When the reported tried jotting an album’s song name Prince said please, that’s a surprise. Don’t spoil things for people.
However, there was one detail that was forthcoming. According to Peter Willis, the reporter, the new album returns to the early blistering form of Prince’s.
Willis said, it’s instantly infectious. It’s amazing.
Prince, in addition to his giveaway with the Mirror, is reportedly planning to distribute the new CD free in the Daily Record in Scotland and the Rolling Stone German edition.
Over 2.5 million copies reportedly are being given away of his ten track release in Europe. Details concerning distribution in the U.S. haven’t been released yet.
