Phish Schedule North American Tour with First Canada Show in 13 Years

Phish have scheduled a 24-date North American tour this summer that will include the group’s first trip to Canada in almost 13 years.

The tour will start on July 3 in Bangor, Maine, and will continue through a three-night stand at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colo. August 30-September 1. That last stand is, of course, over Labor Day Weekend, and a number of weekend camping tickets and RV passes will be available for those that want to make a weekend of it.

The Canadian date will take place July 9 at the Molson Canadian Amphitheatre in Toronto. Other cities on the tour are Saratoga Springs, N.Y; Holmdel, N.J.; Wantagh, N.Y.; Columbia, Md.; Alpharetta, Ga.; Chicago; George, Wash.; Stateline, Nev.; San Francisco and Los Angeles. Most of the cities on the tour will see the band playing two- or three- night stands.

Phish last played a third annual New Year’s Eve event at Madison Square Garden, though frontman Trey Anastasio has been busy in the meantime. He wrote the music to a new Broadway show “Hands on a Hardbody” that began previews February 23 and will officially open at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre next week.

Anastasio co-wrote the music along with Amanda Green, who also wrote the lyrics. Doug Wright wrote the book for the musical, which is based on a 1997 documentary of the same name. The musical originally premiered at the La Jolla Playhouse at the University of California, San Diego last year.

Additionally, Anastasio will take his Trey Anastasio band out for a handful of west coast dates in April, playing Seattle (April 16); Portland, Ore. (April 17) and Oakland, Ca. (April 19-20). He will then play with the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC on May 22 before the Phish tour kicks off this summer.
