peter frampton Biography
Peter Frampton, the English multi-instrumentalist, singer, musician and producer was born on April 22, 1950 in Kent, England. He played with the bands The Herd and Humble Pie before launching his solo career in 1971.
The international breakthrough for Frampton came with the release of “Framptom Comes Alive!” in 1976. The album has sold more than 6 million U.S. copies and also spawned several hit singles. It was the best selling album for 1976, beating out even “Fleetwood Mac.” Since that time Frampton has released several other major albums and worked with many prominent artists, including Pearl Jam's Mike McCready and Matt Cameron, along with David Bowie. He is best known for some of his classic hit singles such as “I'm in You,” “Do You Feel Like We Do,” “Baby, I Love Your Way” and “Show Me the Way” and his use of the guitar effect known as talk box. These songs remain classic rock radio staples. Frampton has made appearances on television shows like “The Family Guy” and “The Simpsons.”
In April 2010, Frampton released “Thank You Mr. Churchill,” his fourteenth album, and toured North America in the summer of 2010 with the band Yes. They had performed together previously in 1976. In March 2011, Frampton kicked off a tour of the UK to support his new album, with visits to Bristol, London, Manchester, Glasgow and Leamington Spa.
