O.A.R. Fill Summer with 29-Date Concert Tour
O.A.R. will launch the 29-date “Sounds of Summer Tour” this June, and will stay on the road through early August.
The band, also known as Of a Revolution, will appear at the Harborfest at Town Point Park in Norfolk, Va. on June 7, and then will kick off their tour in earnest at The Pageant in St. Louis on June 20. The trek will then run through an August 3 appearance at the PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, N.J.
Other cities on the tour include Kansas City, Mo.; Chicago; Rochester, Mich.; Cleveland; North Myrtle Beach, S.C.; Atlanta; Philadelphia; Saratoga Springs, N.Y. and New York.
On July 12, the band will appear at the Riverbend Music Center along with Dave Matthews. For the most of the rest of the tour, Andrew McMahon and Allen Stone will provide support for the shows.
It is reported that the group is currently in the studio working on what will become its eighth studio album, but there’s not much word on the new music other than that, nor if the album will be released in time for the tour. It could be assumed that fans will likely get an earful of new music at these dates, in any case.
The group’s last studio record, King, was released in August 2012, though the band did release a live CD and DVD late last year.
Live on Red Rocks was released as a single DVD and a double-CD set in November 2012, of course featuring the band at the famed Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colo. The group will return to the venue for the “Sounds of Summer Tour” on June 22.
The band is known for its tight live show, and Live on Red Rocks is the group’s fifth live album. The first, Any Time Now, was released back in 2002.
