Nicki Minaj Launches First Headlining Tour in July
Nicki Minaj recently announced that she will embark on a relatively short North American tour to celebrate the recent release of her sophomore album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded. The trek will be her first headlining tour in the U.S.
The 14-date tour will begin in Chicago at the Chicago Theatre on July 16, and the tour is scheduled to run through August 12, when the singer is expected to perform at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in Vancouver, British Columbia. Other cities the tour will hit include Detroit, Atlanta, Miami, Birmingham, St. Louis, Las Vegas and Seattle.
Most of the venues on the dates are theaters, and have seating capacities ranging from 2,800 to 7,000, according to MTV. With the relatively small venues the pop star is playing, it seems somewhat guaranteed that most, if not all, will sell out quickly. Minaj is also planning treks to the U.K., Japan and Australia, and those tickets sold out within hours of going on sale.
In addition to regular tickets, fans also can purchase special VIP tickets that offer early entrance to the venue and the chance for an intimate meet and greet with Minaj.
In addition to the solo dates coming up later this year, Minaj also will play a variety of radio shows, including the Wild Jam in San Francisco on May 10. She also will appear at the Hot 97 Summer Jam in New York on June 3.
Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded was released April 3 and rose to the top in the U.S., Canada, U.K. and many other countries around the world. The album features Cam’ron, Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, Nas, Drake and Young Jeezy among others. The artist released her first album, Pink Friday, in 2010, and it also reached number one on the Billboard 200 albums chart.
