Neko Case Tours To Support New Album ‘The Worse Things Get’
Neko Case already has a slew of North American festival appearances planned for the upcoming months, and now she has revealed a headlining tour for the fall.
Case’s name will top the bill at shows beginning September 11 at the House of Blues in San Diego, and she’ll stay on the road through an appearance at the Orpheum Theatre in Boston on November 1. Other cities that will get a chance to hear the best current female vocalist* include Phoenix, Santa Fe, Denver, Seattle, Vancouver, Philadelphia, Minneapolis, St. Louis, Nashville and Atlanta.
* I suppose I should point out that this is obviously my opinion, but I’m pretty sure it’s also a fact.
Festivals she’ll be appearing at include Solid Sound Festival (June 22), Toronto Urban Blues Fest (July 6), Regina Folk Fest (August 11) and A.V. Fest/Hideout Block Party (September 6).
All of these dates will be to support her upcoming album, The Worse Things Get, The Harder I Fight, the Harder I Fight, the More I Love You, which is slated for release September 3. When announcing the new album recently, she also revealed the first single as “Man,” which features M. Ward on guitar.
A press release reveals that other players/singers on the album include Kelly Hogan, Howe Gelb and members of The New Pornographers, Calexico, My Morning Jacket and Los Lobos. Case is also a member of the New Pornographers, so guest appearances from that band are no surprise, and she and Jim James of My Morning Jacket previously have performed an awesome version of the classic Kenny Rogers/Dolly Parton hit, “Islands in the Stream.” If you haven’t seen it, do yourself a favor and check out the YouTube clip below.
This will be Case’s first album since 2009’s Middle Cyclone, which was a very good album. However, the new album will have a long way to go if it can live up to the excellent standard she set with Fox Confessor Brings the Flood back in 2006.
