NBC’s The Sing-Off Sets Out on First Tour in February

NBC’s “The Sing-Off” is hitting the road for its first live tour. The winning a cappella group of season four – to be announced during the holiday strip’s final episode, airing Monday, December 23rd – will join a handful of finalists for “The Sing-Off” Live Tour! (exclamation mark mandatory), which kicks off a 32-night jaunt on February 19th in Verona, New York.

After that, the tour will work its way across a number of major markets, including (but not limited to) Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago, Detroit, Seattle and San Francisco, before wrapping up on March 29th in Los Angeles.

“The incredible reception “The Sing-Off” has received this season is a testament to the show’s ability to intrigue and move viewers with the sheer talent it showcases,” said Paul Telegdy, president of alternative and late night programming, NBC Entertainment in a press statement. “The tour will be a unique experience for fans of the show to get up close and personal with their favorite groups and experience the magic of a cappella live.”

The internet tells me that fans can expect, not only numerous favorite performances from the seven-episode season, but also many individual sets from each act, as well as new group numbers, Ultimate Sing-Off battles and other surprises.

News of the tour comes shortly after the season premiere averaged a 2.4 rating among adults between the ages of 18-49, meaning it’s gone up 26 percent from its third-season opener in 2011, which isn’t too shabby.

The show’s inaugural cross-country trek also comes as one of the many changes put in place since Mark Burnett took over as executive producer, others of which include reverting back to its original holiday airing schedule, adding “Voice”-like sudden-death eliminations and mentorships, as well as introducing Jewel as a judge.
