muse Biography

The English rock band Muse was formed in 1994 in Teignmouth, Devon. Band members consist of Matthew Bellamy (lead vocalist, keytar, keyboards, piano, guitars), Christopher Wolstenholme (harmonica, guitars, keyboards, bass, backing vocals) and Dominic Howard (backing vocals, harmtar, sampling, synthesisers, percussion, drums). Percussionist and keyboardist Morgan Nicholls started to perform with the band live after they released “Black Holes and Revelations” in 2006. Muse is well known for their extravagant and energetic live performances as well as their fusion of several music genres including electronic, classical music, heavy metal, pop music, alternative rock, progressive rock, post grunge and space rock.

Muse has release five albums: 1999's “Showbiz,” 2001's “Origin of Symmetry,” 2003's “Absolution,” 2006's “Black Holes and Revelations” and 2009's “The Resistance.” Three live albums have also been released by Muse: 2002's “Hullabaloo Soundtrack,” a B-sides compilation, 2005's “Absolution Tour” and 2008's “HAARP.”

Muse was nominated for a Mercury Prize for “Black Holes and Revelations” and the album finished third on the 2006 “NME Albums of the Year” list. Muse has won numerous music awards, including one American Music Award, four Kerrang! Awards, one MTV Video Music Award, two BRIT awards, eight NME Awards, and five Q Awards as well as MTV Europe Music Awards. The band has also received three Grammy Award nominations and won a Best Rock Album Grammy for “The Resistance.” Muse has sold more than 10 million worldwide albums.
