Mumford and Sons Round Out Summer with 10 New US Dates
Late last month, Mumford and Sons announced a mini music festival road tour called the “Gentlemen Of The Road Stopover” that will be held around the United States every weekend in August. That tour sold out quickly, and now the band has added 10 additional headlining shows to that August itinerary.
The first of the newly announced dates will be held at Pier A Park in Hoboken, N.J. on August 1, and the new dates wind up with an appearance by the group at the Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colo. The tour also will visit Providence, R.I.; Canandaigua, N.Y.; Portsmouth, Va.; Louisville, Ky.; Columbus, Ohio; Lincoln, Neb.; Laramie, Wyo. and Magna, Utah.
There’s a good chance that fans that make it out to these shows will be treated to some new music from the band, as their sophomore album is set to be released on September 25. Though no official title for the album has yet been released, MTV is speculating that it may be called Babel.
The guess comes from a teaser video that was posted to the Mumford and Sons official website yesterday. The video starts with footage of an old-tyme party, and then a scene of the fellows in the British folk rock band sitting around in the midst of suitcases and bowler hats left behind in the aftermath of the part. But as the clip fades, a series of five signal flags are shown that spell out the world “Babel.”
A spokesperson would not confirm to MTV that the album (or perhaps a new single) would be called “Babel,” but it is likely that new information will be released about the new material in the near future.
Each stop on the “Gentlemen of the Road Stopover” will feature around six acts in addition to the Mumford and Sons performance. Other acts that will appear at various stops include Dawes, St. Vincent, Two Gallants, Simon Felice and JEFF the Brotherhood.
