Mumford and Sons Roll Out Arena Tour Dates
Mumford and Sons will perform in arenas all around Europe in 2013, staying on the road throughout the majority of March and into April.
“It’s been a little while since the band visited the shores of mainland Europe, however we are very pleased to announce that that’s soon set to change,” read a statement on the bands website about the shows.
This leg of the tour will kick off March 4 in Warsaw Poland, and the group will continue on the road through April 11, when they will perform in Olso, Norway. Other cities on the tour itinerary include Prague, Vienna, Munich, Rome, Barcelona, Madrid, Paris, Amsterdam, Berlin, Hamburg, Copenhagen and Stockholm.
The newly announced dates are among many other appearances the band will be making in the coming months to support their sophomore release, Babel. The album was released in September.
Before the Arena tour, the band has a couple dates scheduled in Los Angeles (at the Hollywood Bowl November 10 and 12) before heading across the Atlantic for a UK tour that will kick off November 21 in Torquay. That tour will run through a December 18 show at the O2 Arena in London.
The group will then be allowed a breather over the holidays before another short U.S. tour in February that will find them visiting arenas in Boston; New York; Fairfax, Va. and Camden, N.J.
In other Mumford and Sons news, the group recently announced that actor Idris Elba will make his directing debut with a short film for the group’s next single, “Lover of the Light.” The single will be released December 3.
“We are huge fans of Idris Elba’s acting work, as pretty much anyone can agree he’s the most badass British actor since Richard Briars,” said the band, according to the BBC. “We’ve been fortunate to work with some great directors in the past, but we’ve always been uncomfortable with the process of making music videos. Talking to Idris and [scriptwriter] Dan [Cadan] about making a video that we’re not in made it a lot more fun to think about.”
