Melanie Moore Takes ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ Crown

Another “So You Think You Can Dance” winner has been crowned. The America’s Favorite Dancer title was taken by Melanie Moore for the hit Fox show’s eighth season.

A prediction had been made by Judge Nigel Lythgoe that the winner would be between two girls. He was proven to be right. Moore, a 19 year old dancer, defeated Sasha Mallory, who was first runner-up. Third place went to Marko Germar and Tadd Guadduang placed fourth.

Moore earned an impressive 47% of 11.5 million fan votes. The native of Marietta, Georgia won $250,000 cash as the winner in addition to a Gatorade campaign spot and more.

The judges were wowed by the contemporary dances of Moore’s to songs like “Total Eclipse of the Heart” by Bonnie Tyler and “My Love” by Sia in addition to her hip-hop powerful routine with Marko to the song “I Got You” by Leona Lewis.

Moore tweeted that she was very honored and blessed to be the winner of season 8. Wow, thank you everyone.

Moore will take to road with the other finalists of the show for their tour “So You Think You Can Dance. The outing kicks off in New Orleans on September 19 and will wrap up in Glendale, Arizona on November 17.
